Joining an Event

An event host invites you with a join link (it ends in /e/ followed by a code) or a QR code. You register once, and your lab opens when the event starts. The host covers event access, so you don’t need VM hours or a Lab subscription. You do need a Rogue Arena account; you can create one while you register.

  1. Open the join link, or scan the QR code with your phone’s camera.
  2. Check the invitation. It shows the event name, who is hosting, the description, and the start and end times in the event’s time zone. If you’re in a different time zone, Your time shows the same times locally.
  3. Click Sign in / Register, then sign in or create an account.
  4. You come back to the invitation, which now says You’re registered.

Your seat is held until 15 minutes after the start.

Before the start, the invitation page counts down to the event. Keep it open: it updates on its own and takes you into your lab as soon as your seat is ready. If the host moves the start, the page shows the new time.

You can also close it and come back later:

  • Events > Registered lists your upcoming registrations. Click a row to open its lobby.
  • Your dashboard shows the event with “Your event starts … VMs open then” and an Event lobby link.

Click Check my access on the invitation page to check again at any time.

At the start, the page shows “Your seat is ready” and takes you to your dashboard, where the event’s lab is your active deployment. If it doesn’t move on its own, click Open my event workspace.

How the lab is shared is up to your host:

  • You may share a deployment with the rest of your team.
  • The host can give each attendee their own copy of some VMs. Every other VM is shared with your team.

You can take and revert snapshots on your own VM copies, and delete the snapshots you took. You can’t change snapshots on the VMs your team shares.

The host can move you to another team. During a live event, that switches you to the new team’s lab.

If the event scores, a Scoreboard button appears on the invitation page. Whether you can open the board depends on the host’s settings.

If you haven’t arrived 15 minutes after the start, your held seat is released so someone else can use it. The page says so and shows Join as a walk-up. Click it to take any seat that’s still free.

People who didn’t register ahead can open the link after the start and join the same way while seats are free.

Events > Browse Events lists public events that are open for registration. Search by name or host, or filter by date. Click an event to see its details, then click Register (or View lobby if you’ve already registered). Events with a public scoreboard also show View scoreboard.

Only events that Rogue Labs staff choose to list appear here. If a host sent you a link, use that.
